Goals & Objectives

The objectives of this multi-year fundraising effort are to clean the murals, install new lighting in the church and increase public awareness and appreciation of Vanka's "Gift to America." Like the restoration work itself, the campaign will be completed in phases.

Phase I will address the seven murals most in need of restoration and install lighting that will effectively illuminate the murals for the first time in nearly 75 years. The goal of Phase I is $245,000. Phase II will focus on cleaning the remaining 15 murals, particularly those on the dome and high on the side walls. The goal of Phase II is $400,000.

We are grateful for the leadership support from the following foundations and individuals:

  • Anonymous
  • The Clarke Foundation

  • Snee-Reinhardt Foundation
  • Vanka-Halderman-Brasko Family

We also recognize and appreciate the many groups and individuals contributing to the preservation effort through spontaneous donations at the church and promotion of the project among their personal and professional networks.
